Dear Parents
Following the mocks, Year 11 students will begin their study of ‘Macbeth’; the final unit of their GCSE English Literature course.
While we are able to provide students with some of the key material and scenes for study, the specification requires that students study the full text. We are, therefore, recommending that all students purchase a copy of the play. There is no required edition but we would recommend the Cambridge Schools version (ISBN 978-1107615496.) This version is widely available and good second hand copies are also sold on Amazon at very reasonable prices.

Having their own copy of a text means that students are able to take ownership of their own revision notes and enables them to keep their revision of a text ‘ticking over’ while other units of work are being covered in class. In addition, any study guide to the text is a useful resource; CGP and York Notes produce particularly useful versions.
Please do not hesitate to contact me or your child’s English teacher if you have any queries.
Yours faithfully
Miss S Mace
