Dear Parent/Carer,
As part of our Careers Programme, on Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th June all Year 9 students will be given the chance to spend time outside school in self-arranged work shadowing.
This is an opportunity for students to visit the workplace of parents, guardians, relatives or close family friends, to gain a real insight into the world of work and to consider the transferable skills needed in the workplace. We ask that you help your child arrange a suitable experience that day – it does not matter what type of job they observe, provided they gain experience of a genuine day at work with the sort of business tasks a worker might be met with on a day to day basis.
Please fill in this form to confirm what is in place for your son/daughter by Friday 29th May: Year 9 Work Shadowing Form. Please note that it is vital for the employer or business to have Employers and Public Liability insurance for the experience to take place.
If it proves impossible to organise a suitable experience, we will provide a virtual experience to students that can be carried out from home.
Please take this opportunity to arrange a positive work experience for your child, but if you require any further information or advice on the process, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s college team.
Kind regards
Miss Honey
Vice Principal
